Assembly – Meeting Place and Exchange Forum

Every morning, the ASSEMBLY is a meeting place for the public, artists, curators, and people engaged in the cultural sector. Whether in short thematic kick-off statements, in an arena, or in individual encounters—all of the participants are invited to take advantage of the light-flooded architecture of the SANAA building on the Zollverein site for a relaxed exchange.

PACT Zollverein – Festival Centre

Situated at the centre of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein, PACT’s foyer is the ideal location to meet people and relax during the Dance Platform. Here you will also find a range of accompanying activities such as yoga classes or can learn more about the diverse dance scene in Germany’s largest federal state North Rhine-Westphalia.

Late Night Studio Talk

After the performances, the Frankfurt theatre expert Philipp Schulte, will host late night talks with artists, jury members and guests. Together they will sort, report and review their impressions of the day’s events whilst enjoying snacks and drinks from the bar.

Just in Time

Just in Time

›Just in Time‹ is a choreographic letter project that has so far been realized in three cities and will move on to several other cities in 2018. The idea is for people to meet and talk about dance, to dance and to write individual letters to dance. These letters are documents and snapshots of an encounter with dance, often written down in less than half an hour. All the letter writers also noted a favourite movement, which was then included in a celebratory ball held in each city at the end of the project.

Artist Summit

Artist Summit

The ARTIST SUMMIT is dedicated to the unexplored potential of the German Dance Platform 2018. The artists’ group HOOD, currently a fellowship holder at PACT Zollverein, invite 30 dance practitioners to take part in a nine-day critical exchange at Zollverein. The emphasis of the summit is on exchange between the participating artists in concern of significant issues in dance in Germany and internationally.

Field Studies

Current academic discourse on dance is diverse, ranging from observations of current developments in state ballet companies, the independent scene or research on the body in motion. In the run-up to the Dance Platform 2018, this expansive field is being traversed in several seminars, workshops and practical discourses at universities across Germany.
